Microscope Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 25, 2026

The Microscope app is designed to work without an account, advertising, analytics, or tracking. The app does not transmit your camera view, captures, settings, or usage activity to us. Information may reach us only when you choose to contact us or when Apple provides diagnostics under your iPhone analytics settings, as explained below.

Information handled by the app

Camera

The Microscope app uses the rear camera to display and capture your microscope view. Camera frames are processed on your iPhone and are not uploaded to us.

Photos

When you choose Save to Photos, the Microscope app requests access to create or reuse a Photos album named Microscope and save your photo or video. Saved captures remain in your Photos library and under your control.

Microphone

Microphone access is optional and is requested only if you enable audio for video recording. Audio is recorded into the video on your iPhone and is not uploaded to us.

App settings and temporary captures

The Microscope app stores onboarding progress, camera preferences, and app settings locally on your device. A capture may be stored temporarily in the app’s protected local storage while it is being reviewed, saved, or recovered after an interruption. Temporary app copies are removed after the related workflow is completed or discarded.

Deleting the Microscope app removes its local settings and temporary app data. Captures already saved in Photos and purchase records held by Apple are not removed when you delete the app.

Purchases

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment-card or Apple Account details. The app receives only the product and entitlement information needed to unlock Microscope app Pro.

Apple handles this information under its Privacy Policy.

Diagnostics

The Microscope app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may make diagnostic information available to us through App Store Connect. We do not intentionally include camera frames, saved captures, or recording audio in diagnostic logs.

When you contact us

If you email us for support or a privacy question, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. We use that information only to respond, troubleshoot, protect the app and its users, or meet legal obligations. We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.

Do not send microscope captures or other sensitive content unless it is necessary for your request.

Network activity

The Microscope app does not send your camera view, captures, settings, or usage activity to a developer-operated server. Network access may occur when:

  • Apple StoreKit loads products, verifies purchases, or restores entitlements; or
  • you choose to open an external link such as this policy or the support page.

Your choices

You can:

  • manage Camera, Photos, and Microphone permissions in iPhone Settings;
  • leave video audio disabled;
  • delete saved captures in Photos;
  • delete the app to remove app-local settings and temporary data; and
  • contact us with a privacy question.

Because we do not operate user accounts or collect personal data through the app, we do not hold an account profile or cloud media library for you to access or delete.

Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly seek personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, contact us so that we can delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app’s practices or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
